By blending fibers in the initial state of yarn spinning that are both hydrophobic (repel water) and hydrophilic (attracts water) the wicking properties of the yarns are made inherent. In application, combination of fibers creates a sort of "natural air conditioning" effect to occur. When the wearer perspires, the moisture and hot air within the garment are drawn up into the fabric and distributed evenly throughout the surface. This is what's known as moisture-wicking affect, and it helps wearers stay cooler and drier on the job.
